Joseph Freed and Allison Berkley are the founders of Marwar Junction Productions, an independent production company known for creating distinctive content for television and streaming services. Over their 15-year partnership, Freed and Berkley have displayed a unique approach to storytelling across all genres with Perfect Wife: The Mysterious Disappearance of Sherri Papini, which in its first week of release reached 3.6 million viewers on Hulu becoming the streamer's most viewed docuseries ever, Krishnas: Gurus. Karma. Murder (Peacock), Elizabeth Smart: Autobiography (A&E), Earth To Ned (Disney+), Eli Roth’s History of Horror (AMC), and scripted movie The Girl Who Escaped (Lifetime).
Additional projects from Marwar Junction’s robust slate of programming include the documentary/horror series The Legion of Exorcists (Travel/Discovery+), The Curse of Robert The Doll (Travel/Discovery+), and The 101 Scariest Horror Movie Moments Of All Time (Shudder), documentary anthology Autobiography (A&E), true-crime limited series, Escaping Captivity: The Kara Robinson Story (Oxygen/Peacock) & Warren Jeffs: Prophet of Evil (A&E), true crime series Murder in the Thirst (BET) and The Object of Murder (ID), pop-cuture talk show Bossip (WEtv). Additional scripted titles include Abducted By My Teacher: The Elizabeth Thomas Story (Lifetime), The Girl Lock Upstairs: The Tanya Kach Story (Lifetime), and I Am Elizabeth Smart (Lifetime), which was nominated for two Critics’ Choice Awards, including Best Movie Made For Television.
Their creative vision has lead to partnerships with legacy brands like The Jim Henson Company, Hasbro, and Legendary Entertainment. Marquee projects include the comedic late-night talk show Earth to Ned (Disney+), created in partnership with The Jim Henson Company and named one of 2020’s Ten Best TV Series by The LA Times, family competition series Play-Doh Squished (Amazon/IMDb TV) inspired by Hasbro’s iconic, global toy brand, documentary series Eli Roth’s History of Horror (AMC), and the reality competition series Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge (SyFy), also made in partnership with The Jim Henson Company. Freed and Berkley first worked together on CBS Television’s syndicated talk show Rachael Ray, producing more than 1,000 episodes. Rachael Ray brought them both Emmy nominations, with Freed winning back-to-back Emmy Awards for Outstanding Talk Show.
